On The Bench!

I haven't written for a while about what I've been working on so I guess I should let you know!

The last couple of weeks have mainly consisted of my sketchbook and pencils, designing new ranges for the coming year.  I'm working on three, possibly four (!), new ranges and I'm so excited to get them out there!

When I have picked up my tools, something I've been experimenting with is cuttlebone casting. Yep, cuttlebones.  Those elliptical shaped bones you see budgies nibbling on!  But they are so much more than that.  They have a hard side and a soft side and that soft side can be carved into, producing 3D shapes.  The other thing I love about it is that the cuttlebone has a pattern all the way through it that transfers to the cast metal.  It reminds me the rippled sand when the tide has gone out.  This got me thinking to the collection of sea glass I picked whilst on holiday last year....
